Im Naming My First Born Son "Tom and Jim (and a Tiger)"
Many of you have written to me to ask if I know the secret of this albums name. Indeed I do, morons: Its taken the Conformists 200 years to get around to releasing a CD, and so they named the thing 200. Was it worth the wait? You no good ingrate, of course it was worth the wait! While every band in St. Louis goes staggering with their pants around their ankles after major label deals and coveted opening spots on the local stage of the Warped Tour, the Conformists have never wavered from their goal of being the best band in St. Louis. And guess what? Theyre the best band in St. Louis. No band is writing smarter songs. No band is creating better sounds. No band is challenging themselves as much. No band risks more every time they take the stage. Oh, sure, other bands say theyre heavier than the Conformists, or louder, or faster or more likely to climb a tall building with a high-powered rifle, but in two years those same bands will be gone, their members "getting seriously into World Music" or worse, working the door at Ciceros. The Conformists are making great music now, and in two years, the stuff they created for "Two Hundred" will still sound great, but not as good as the stuff theyll be making then. Dont believe me? Dig out a copy of their song "Merrick" from the Five Song Demo and listen to "Two Hundred." Thats right: Theyre that much better, and theyll be that much better.

Also Recommends:  DNA, "DNA on DNA;" Pere Ubu, "Ubu Unchained;" Mars, "78+"
